![]() ![]() Well first question back to you guys is, Who was born in 1910? Man, I'd have to congratulate you for just being able to sit at the keyboard and type your responses! You guys are absolutely correct! I too, would be hesitant to order a plane from any of YOU if you were offering the same service. so you have to be carefull in that aspect, and also, you dont some other minor fixes here and there, and she couldīut the big thing is what people are going to expect for the amount that you want. My aileron linkagesĪnd the rudder pull/pull is outside the plane, therefore exposed. not yet ready to go to TG, as I didnt plan for that. Thats $10,000.00 based on your quoted rates. my time is in the neighborhood of 200 hours.įull panel lines, rivets, hatches, weathered, full cockpit, hinged cowl, hatches, etc. on my PCM 1/4 scale 109 in my avatar it took me almost a year to build. Tony (rambro) has alot of good points as well as Vic. yes, no one is attacking you, just asking the questions If this is an honest birth date, construction may never be completed because he is 95 years old!!! Notice that the prospective contractor was born on. Those hours could vary extensively during construction as would the final cost of the completed aircraft. That way the cost would be fixed and not subject to the number of hours the contractor would put into the construction. Kits and parts are expensive now but charging a similar fee would be more in line. IE: a 50 dollar kit plus 50 dollars in parts (glue covering hinges etc) not including engine, radio and stuff like that, just the plane, I would charge the customer $100.00 for labor. I used to build models on contract and charged double what the cost of the kit and parts cost me. Not knocking the idea of contracting the construction of models just the going rate. Can you imagine, a whole years pay for building costs. I only get $12K as my annual social security payment (and they take income tax out of that!). I can't imagine laying out $10K for someone to build a plane for me. ![]() I have over 200 hours in a plane now and have over $2000 in parts and kit cutting costs (engine, lighting system, radio and servos are included are part of that $2k investment). I have read of a few Top Gun models going for 8K to 15K (that was several years back). ![]() I didn't make that kind of money in my profession as a Senior Systems Analyst. Shipping would be available and would be additional to the cost of the plane, or in some cases I would entertain pickup and limited delivery within the Southeast. I am not an assembly line nor do I have a shop full of assistants, so orders would only be taken to accomodate a reasonable schedule of completion. Powerplants would be of your choice, either glow or gasoline. I would prefer to work with the larger scale kits such as Byron, Iron Bay, Northwest Hobby Technologies, American Eagle, Top Flite, China Model Products, Kondor Model Products, World Models and a few of the 90 inch plus GSP planes. I would also be able to build any available ARF and include many upgrades that would enhance the overall quality and performance of the design. I am not a scratch builder by any sense of the word, but I can expertly, and with superb craftsmanship, build from any available kit. If you are interested in owning a large scale warbird but don't have the time or ability to do the work then contact me. I've been at this for a number of years and have always built my models straight and true. ![]()
